Abstract

Nocturnal insect species are phootropic and are attracted towards artificial light in large numbers. The light traps serve as an important tool for sampling populations of night flying insects as well as to ascertain the peak period of insect activity. These arc helpfiul in predicting the infestation level and abundance of insecis in a locality.
