Abstract

Detailed study was made on histomorphological changes in pituitary of fish Colisa fasciatus (Order : Perciformes) through out a year. Co-relation was established between histomorphological changes in the shape of pituitary, secretory activity and behaviour of basophils with gonadal maturation. Basophils with high level of secretory activity during spawning period show vacuolization during post spawning period.

Keywords: Histomorphological, Pituitary gland, Colisa fasciatus, gonadal cycle, proximal par distalis
