Abstract

Procamallanus kakinadensis n. sp. from the intestine of Nibea soldado (Lacepede) from Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh) is described. The specimens do not agree with the description of known species of the genus Procamallanus, hence a new species Procamallanus kakinadensis has been established to accomodate the present specimens. The species is distinguished by the body size, location of nerve ring, buccal capsule structure, number of spiral thickenings and number of finger or teeth like structures in the buccal capsule, spicules length, number and arrangement of caudal papillae, vulva position and shape of the tail end.
