Abstract
Thyroxine treatment given to the larvae of Cirrhina mrigala (Ham) for about one month revealed faster postembryonic development as against the control experiments. 75 mg/lit. dose of thyroxine proved most suitable. Mortality figures comes to 5, 6, 8 and 12 for control, 75 mg/lit., 100 mg/lit, and 125 mg/lit. dose treatments respectively. Morphometrical parameters showed marked changes in all thyroxine treated experiments, suggesting that hormonetherapy may prove useful in the culture of C. mrigala.
