Abstract

Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is a synthesized bacterial macromolecule. PHB are chosen as alternatives for the development of biodegradable plastics, due to their rapid degradability under natural environmental conditions. Among four bacterial strains isolated from fertile field soil in Papanasam Cauvery delta area were found to be polyhydroxybutyrate producing bacteria accumulation. Isolated fertile field soil samples were identified as Pseudomonas canadensis found the best PHB producer. The isolate's best pH and temperature for producing PHB are 7.5 and 37°C. The best carbon source of PHB production was fructose. The PHB extracted samples were evaluated through the analysis for UV-Vis, FTIR, NMR, XRD, and SEM. The isolated Pseudomonas canadensis used for feasible PHB production purpose use the cheaply available tapioca powder nutrient source in optimization of parameters during production using different substrates to further improve the yield of Polyhydroxybutyrate.
