Abstract
The current study showed the comparative examination of the Gonado-Somatic Index (G.S.I.) and Dobriyal Index (D.I.) used to find out the sexual maturity of a foot-hill river fish Puntius ticto. Dobriyal Index has been used by several Ichthyologists in foreign countries and India. Dobriyal Index was reported to be more successful than Gonado Somatic Index. In the sexual maturity observations too the Dobriyal Index showed more accuracy than Gonado Somatic Index when correlated with other observations.
