Abstract
Growth and survival rates of fresh water Labeorohita fingerlings fed with food supplemented with Lactobacillus fermentum (L. fermentum) isolated from cow milk sample were evaluated in this paper. Feeding experiments were conducted for 28 days and the growth parameters were monitored through feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), body weight gain percentage, Specific Growth Rate (SGR) and condition factor. The fingerlings fed with a diet L.fermentum showed a highest mean length of 6.91 cm and mean weight of 3.79 g. The FCR values revealed better growth food supplemented with L. fermentum in comparison to control, demonstrates that the efficient utilization of feed by fishes. The highest specific growth rate was recorded as 2.19% when fingerlings were fed with food supplemented with L .fermentum. The highest Condition Factor Percentage (CFP) was obtained for fingerlings fed with food supplemented with L.fermentum. The present studies conclude that the feed supplemented with L.fermentum was the better feed for the Labeorohita.
