NESTING STATUS AND ACTIVITY PATTERN OF SOME AVIFAUNA AT MAVOOR WETLAND, KERALA

Abstract
Wetland in India which provides different habitat to aquatic flora and fauna as well as numerous birds includes (Parasharya, B. M. and R. M. Naik 1988 ) native and migratory species At mavoor wetland, 23% of migratory species, 66% of Resident species, and 7.24% of local migratory species among the total population of avifauna were recorded. Nesting and breeding status were recorded from the month of July to September .nesting / breeding site of three species, such as Little cormorant, Darter, Purple Herons were recorder Some activity patterns like, Roosting, Vocalization, Movement and locomotion, Hopping, Sunning, Resting, Flocking, Feeding, Interaction with other birds, Alert posture , catching the prey etc were recorded.
