Abstract
A study has been made to adjudicate the best hybrids derived from 22 genotypes by subjecting 66 hybrid combinations to Maize Selection Tool (MST). Based on the analysed data, 10 hybrid combinations viz. 9147A3XNB4D2, 915AXNB4D2, 912B2A1xKA, 916BxKA, 911CxKA, 9148AXKA, 916AlxKA, 912B2xKA, 911A2xNB18 and 916A2xKA with Index value ranging from 4.51 to 7.12 were identified. However, lower index values are considered as better performed hybrid. Among the ten hybrid combinations, 9147A3XNB4D2 with index value 4.51 was adjudicated as the best hybrid for all the metric traits. This analysis can be utilisied conveniently to identify the promising hybrid combinations for commercial exploitation.
