Abstract

The tracheal system of Damalinia Ovis (Linn.) consists of spiracles and trachea. There are eight pairs of spiracles; one prothoracic, one mesothoracic and six abdominal which are present third to eight abdominal segments. The spiracles are ventral in position and the opening of each spiracle never gets protected by hair and bristles. There are two main tracheal trunk, one on either side of the body from head to abdomen. The four commissure are present where two are in head region and two in thoracic part, each in front of prothoracic and mesothoracic ganglionic triangle. Posteriorly, the two main trunk get united to form posterior abdominal commissure. The main tracheal trunk divides into dorsal and ventral branches. These dorsal and Ventral branches further divides so many times and distributed in all the body organs. The laterals up to the main trunk dorsal and ventral branches form anastomosis.
