Abstract

Memory of white colour in domestic fowl confirmed upto 16 days by placing step chicks of desirable colour.

Memory of birds have been reported by many ornithologists (Kohler, 1950 & 1956; Thorpe, 1964, Egremont & Rothschild, 1979). But colour memory of domestic fowl has not been reported so far. The present note describes the memory of white colourina domestic fowl hen (hen was a hybrid of Leghorn, a mediterianean breed cock and village Desi hen). It was incidently observed while ascertaining "Easy rearing technique of chicks in rural area".
