Abstract
The diploid chromosome number of Velarifictorus sp. under the subfamily Gr)Ilinae has been determined to be 2n 9 = 20 (18A + XX) from the oogonial metaphase plates. Testis cells revealed 10 autosomal bivalents and an univalent X in both diplotene and diakinesis stages. At metaphase-I, all bivalents were terminalized. Morphology of autosomes showed 2 pairs m-type, I pair st-type and 6 pairs 1-type and the Xs were the largest m-type chromosomes.
