Abstract
The average population density of soil Collembola was 14160 m-2 in forest stand and 1082 m-2 in cropland. Eight species of five families were recorded in both the soils. Hypogastruridae were dominant in forest and Entomobryidae in cropland. Neelidae had the least value of density in both the systems. There were poscIive correlations between the population density and temperature and moisture content of the soil.
