Abstract
Effect of manganese chloride has been localized on the distribution of alkaline phosphatase in stomach, intestine, pyloric caeca, liver and kidney of O. punctatus. Treatment in the surrounding water for 96 hr (3.01 g/l) and 30 days (120 mg/l) revealed varying result in respect of the exposure time and manganese concentration. In stomach, liver and kidney, there was a gradual decrease in enzyme activity while in pyloric caeca the activity was enhanced at 96 hr stage but at 30 days stage the activity decreased. However, the activity was enhanced in intestine at both the stages of 96 hr and 30 days.
