Abstract

Butterflies (Lepidoptera : Rhopalocera) are beautiful insects and they have attracted attention of both the naturalists and Zoologists for their aesthetic as well as scientific values. As a result the butterfly group has been by far the best worked out group from amongst the Insects. There are about 1,70,000 known species of Lepidoptera. about one tenth of which are butterflies and rest are moths. Their immense diversity and ability to adapt to virtually any climate, has made them some of the most successful creatures on earth as their Swarms has been reported as far as from coldest part of the world above the snow lines.
